Event Support
We often communicate best in person
Good event planning involves careful consideration of the venue, program, guest list, amenities, and budget. The result? A memorable, successful occasion—launching a campaign, gaining members and/or raising funds.
A few special events
• Film celebration at the Proximity Hotel, Greensboro, November 2011. I arranged for the North Carolina Secretary of Commerce to be the featured speaker at a screening reception for local elected officials to celebrate the winner of a video contest. With donations and grant funding, the event was held at no cost for the nonprofit regional film commission.
• Evening gala to honor GO FAR volunteers and donors, 2010. I recruited Jeff Galloway, a former Olympian and coach, as guest speaker, arranged donations of local wine and beer, hired a jazz trio, designed a program, and introduced the speakers, all on a grassroots budget.
• First annual Ohioana Good Roots Book Festival, September 2007. I created panel topics, recruited nationally known authors, and moderated panels for event, now in its fifth running.
The festival was nominated for the Greater Columbus Arts Council2008 Artistic Excellence Award for “excellence, innovation, and risk in arts programming.”
