What's in my portfolio

For NCCJ (National Conference for Community and Justice) of the Piedmont Triad, I directed communications around the campaign to defeat North Carolina's proposed Amendment One in the spring of 2012. That work included coordinating a press conference with community and business leaders, hosting an online petition, posting to social media, and preparing print and digital ads, posters, and information cards in coordination with a grassroots interfaith coalition.
I worked on communications and development efforts for GO FAR (Go Out For A Run), a nonprofit organization that teaches youth to run a 5K, make healthy food choices, and achieve goals.

For Winston-Salem State University, I conceive themes and taglines and write copy for admissions and advancement projects.
At Pace Communications, I led a team of editors, art directors, and freelance contributors in profiling 24 cities. The work involved consulting with civic leaders to establish an editorial brand and message that we communicated in 24- to 48-page feature sections in airline magazines. Our city partners frequently wrote afterwards to say the feature sections exceeded their expectations in quality and impact.

I conceived and launched a city magazine, Winston-Salem Monthly, for Media General, creating a brand, generating enthusiasm and pride, and building a community of readers. The magazine continues to thrive, in advertising revenue and reader interest, three years since its creation.
